Stuck on the Atom?

The Atom is a medium-hard solve with one piece that controls everything. That piece (the split one) is what you're working with at every stage, whether you're trying to get it apart for the first time or seat it back in at the end.

Hint 1: Patience first.

If the puzzle feels locked, the split piece has likely settled during shipping. Don't force it. Hold the Atom only by the three balls on the split piece and work it back and forth slowly. Small, patient movements are what you're after. Eventually something will open up, or rather slide, and you'll feel the puzzle start to give.

Hint 2: Reassembly has an order.

If you've gotten it apart but can't figure out where to start: cradle one of the solid L-shaped pieces in the palm of your hand and place the Y-shaped piece into it. From there the remaining solid pieces have obvious homes. Don't reach for the split piece yet.

Hint 3: Misalign to seat it.

Once all the solid pieces are placed, the split piece can feel impossibly tight. Hold the solid pieces together in one hand and the split piece in the other. Deliberately misalign the split piece on the rail. A little off is enough to buy the wiggle room you need to slide past the balls on the solid pieces and click it into place.
